Happy March!!! February is gone and in just 40 days we will celebrate Easter. The days go by so fast these last few months, when in reality it seems only yesterday that we celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I am trying to take advantage of everyday and do as many things as possible. I am going to spend March working nonstop on my Postgraduate Thesis and I am crossing my fingers all goes well and that I will finish it. There is a lot of work and a few late nights studying surrounded with books and notes.
However, March that we welcomed today is one of my favorite months. It is the month that the first spring clothing appear slowly but steadily and I do my first spring purchases. I made my first purchase a few days back and it was a traditional bracelet called March from the e-shop MARILIZASHOP. It is actually the classic traditional bracelet from our childhood with a few fashionable elements.
Most of us know what March is and we used to wear it religiously every year. Mine was made by my grandmother and I remember that I went to her house every 1st of March in order to place the little bracelet that she has previously made in my hand. For all those who are not familiar with this custom I am going to give you some facts.
March is a traditional bracelet made from red and white thin rope that have been braided and is worn on the left or both hands on the 1st of March and is taken off on the last day of March, from where it took actually its name. It is a custom according to which those who wear the March are protected from diseases, sun and evil eye. Symbolically white and red color is often met in superstitions for protection from evil. This is even mesmerized and from the Ancient Greek writers. The Byzantines also mention the use of painted thin rope against hex. It is therefore a custom that has its roots in the ancient times and pagan ceremonies.
I am going to wear my March daily on my left hand and combine it with red lipstick, red manicure, many bracelets and my favorite Folli Follie watch. Happy March and I hope springs is not far away!!!
